Long Distance Purchase and/or Shipping Arrangements

We have loved this puppy every day of his/her life. We would never place our puppy in a harmful situation for any reason. Emotionally, this experience can be a bit stressful for a puppy. However, it is no more stressful than car travel and the initial days in a new home. Animal transportation by air is federally regulated. Physically, puppy can not be placed on a plane without a certified release from a Veterinarian that the puppy is healthy. We have found air shipment to be reasonable and safe. We have used this method to both deliver and receive puppies across the world.

How does it work to buy a puppy long distance? I don't want to just "mail order" my puppy....

\

PICKING OUT THE BEST PUPPY:
Once you have an approved application we will focus on placing the best puppy in your home. We will send many photos or even videos to you to help you choose the puppy you are most attracted to.  Most importantly we will carefully consider and explain how each puppy might fit into your particular lifestyle.  It is very important to us that each puppy and family will find a kinship in their personality and energy level.   We will always keep YOUR interest in mind.

COMPLETING A LONG DISTANCE PURCHASE:  We will not send puppy until the payment and Covenant have been completed.  Most often our clients find it helpful to wire the funds and fax the contract to us.

ARRANGING FOR SHIPPING:  We charge cost for shipping.  Please see the breakdown below. We will email you a special form that will take you step by step through this. We know that it can be a bit intimidating and we are available to answer any questions that you have.  On your form you will be ask to supply us with a preferred airport, date and time. We work closely with the airline schedule this flight.  We try to work with Midwest, but most often use Delta Airlines and trust the business relationship we have developed with this airline and its staff.

MEETING FOR PICK UP:  Once transactions are complete we can occasionally meet you at a convenient location, most often Milwaukee, Wisconsin or Chicago.  Many clients take advantage of this option when available. There is usually a $50 trip charge.

How does the puppy ship?  What should I expect? Is him just treated like cargo?

\

  • Before shipping the puppy will have a special exam by the Vet to certify his/her health and certify that he/she is fit for flight. This must be done within 10 days of flight.

  • This Veterinary Certificate is presented to the airline. The puppy  and crate are each weighed and inspected for health and security. The crate is zipped shut for security.  The puppy should not be handled by any individual in transport, which we prefer.

  • We will "package" puppy for shipment with clean bedding, a toy, frozen water.

  • The Airline will ship puppy in a safe location of the plane.  If there is a delay the staff will often tend to puppy's needs.

  • The new family will have the address and needed instructions to pick up puppy.  Shipping is prepaid with your purchase, you will not need to bring funds. You MUST bring your ID.

  • Puppy will not be fed the morning of flight. We will "package" puppy for shipment with clean bedding, a toy, frozen water.

  • You must bring: A leash and collar, bottled water, a towel and baby wipes incase of an accident.

  • Do not take puppy out in public. Carry the crate to a private area and allow puppy to stretch his/her legs.  Offer water and allow the puppy to potty/poopy.

  • CONTACT US NO MATTER WHAT TIME YOU GET PUPPY to let us know you have puppy safely.

  • Take puppy home and offer a dish of food and an open crate in a safe contained room for the first night.

  • Puppy should remain in a calm atmosphere for the following 72 hours.  Please follow any included directions.

How much does it cost? What does that include?

\

  • Fuel charges have caused an increase of shipment costs as of April 1, 2008.  Some clients might find it be be more advantageous to fly here themselves to get their puppy and take advantage of the airline's discounted rates for shipping a pet with a passenger.  Feel free to ask how we might assist you in exploring this option.

Risks to be considered in a long distance purchase.

\

  • While it broadens your options in finding the perfect puppy, you will not be able to choose this puppy in person. You will not be able to gain reassurance by visiting our facility and meeting our dogs and family.

  • We will be unable to meet you in person before committing to a puppy and may exercise greater caution in placing puppy. We reserve the right to refuse a long distance sale. Whether may limit our ability to continue a sale.

  • While improbably it is possible for puppy to suffer additional stress or even injury in a flight; this is the nature of flying.  When puppies leave our facility with a family they go from one home to the other. When the travel is by flight the airline technically holds temporary possession. We have no control of the actions of the airline.

  • Transportation cost are always the responsibility of the buyer.  We have personally, as buyers, experienced the additional cost of paying to ship a replacement puppy to our home. Please keep in mind that if your puppy needs to be replaced or returned there will be additional shipment costs.

  • We are unable to make home visits and hands on instruction.  We enjoy this option with local families and regretfully will not be able to visit your home if you are not in the Midwest.
